What it is:
The air-filled spaces behind your forehead, nose, and cheeks become swollen and blocked, trapping mucus. This causes facial pressure/pain, congestion, and sometimes thick nasal drainage.
Common treatment:
We evaluate the nasal passage with visual examination and if needed in-office nasal endoscopy. A sinus culture, removal of drainage or debris may be conducted during the time of exam. Treatment will be based upon clinical examination and findings which can include but not limited to nasal saline rinses with or without medication, decongestants, over-the-counter pain relievers, steroid nasal sprays, and/or if caused by bacteria or symptoms lasting more than 10 days antibiotics may be prescribed.
