What it is:
When something that doesn't belong gets stuck in the ear, nose, or throat. This is especially common in young children (beads, small toys, food) but can happen to anyone. Symptoms vary by location but may include pain, drainage, bleeding, or difficulty breathing.
Common treatment:
We evaluate the location with visual examination and/or nasal endoscopy or laryngoscopy if appropriate. A doctor will safely remove the object using specialized tools, suction, or other devices. Post removal you may be prescribed antibiotic (oral, ointments, or drops,) nasal sprays, and/or moisturizing regime.
